About the Fellowship
The Taiwan Fellowship 2025 supports researchers in humanities and social sciences. Fellows can conduct research at prestigious universities, colleges, and think tanks across Taiwan.

Fellowship Benefits
Monthly Stipend:
NT$60,000 (around USD 1,850) for professors and senior researchers
NT$50,000 (around USD 1,540) for assistant professors, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD candidates
Travel Subsidy:
Round-trip economy-class airfare (up to NT$35,000 / approximately USD 1,080)
Academic Networking:
Participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Open to international applicants from all countries except Taiwan
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Taiwan Fellowship 2025, applicants must:
Be foreign nationals (non-Taiwan citizens)
Hold positions such as professor, associate professor, assistant professor, or postdoctoral researcher
Be PhD students or researchers affiliated with foreign academic institutions
Have a research proposal related to Taiwan, Mainland China, cross-strait issues, Sinology, or Asia-Pacific regional studies
Not currently reside, study, or work in Taiwan
Application Process
Documents Required:
Completed online application form (available at the Taiwan Fellowship Portal)
Updated CV listing academic publications
Research proposal (about 3 pages)
Two recommendation letters (or one recommendation and one consent letter)
Submission:
Send all printed documents to the nearest Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TECO) in your country.

Important Regulations
Research must follow the approved proposal; changes require approval.
A final research report (minimum 20 pages) is mandatory within three months after completion.
Please note that Fellows cannot accept other Taiwan government scholarships simultaneously.
No part-time jobs without prior consent from MOFA.
Fellows must comply with all Taiwanese laws.
All publications must acknowledge the Taiwan Fellowship program.
