University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship 2026: Fully Funded Graduate Research Opportunity

The University of Melbourne – Australia is now accepting applications for their famous Human Rights Scholarship 2026. The program is fully funded and to supports graduate research students committed to advancing human rights through academic excellence and practical engagement. Scholarship Benefits

The Human Rights Scholarship fully supports award winners with the following:

  • Living Allowance: AUD $43,500 a year (pro rata for part-time), indexed each year
  • Tuition Fee Offset: Master’s – not more than 2 years, not more than 4 years for Doctorate
  • Relocation Grant: AUD $2,000 for students moving interstate and AUD $3,000 for international students
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): Single membership for international students requiring a student visa

These benefits are meant to serve to lower costs so that students can focus only on their research work.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Meet the admission criteria for a Master or Doctorate by research from the University of Melbourne
  • Get ready to undertake graduate studies particularly in human rights
  • Demonstrate a passion for human rights activism beyond academic work, for instance, through work experience or volunteering
  • Not already hold a research qualification of the same or higher standard to a course for which a scholarship is being sought.
  • Not to have previously received a graduate research scholarship from the University

These specifications ensure that the scholarship money will go to people who are both academically qualified and intensely committed to human rights causes.

Online application needs to be submit by October 31, 2025, with:

  1. Complete Scholarship Application Form submission: Can be download through the University of Melbourne’s scholarships portal
  2. Personal Statement: Should cover commitment to human rights in detail and how the proposed research contributes to the field
  3. Academic Transcripts and Relevant Documents: Including curriculum vitae and references

All successful applicants will be notified via email by February 2026. Please note that individual feedback will not be provided
